About Template Databases

Template databases are used to populate new database with all of the appropriate materials and settings. When you select File | New Database, the template database is copied to create the new user database. As a result, the newly created database contains all of the settings and materials in the template database.

This enforces consistent usage of HyperSizer through a team since all team member will be using the same materials and settings.

Most default settings and materials can be customized in HyperSizer using a template database:
- Materials
- Units
- Analysis selections (Failure tab)
- Plugin settings
- Load factors
- FEM import/export options
Only a HyperSizer Admin can create a template database. See Creating a Template Database.
Typically an admin will create a custom template database and post it to a shared location on a server. Team members can point to the custom template database. This ensures that each time they create a database, all of the appropriate materials and settings are included. See Using a Template Database, Configuring a Template Database on Install.

Template Location

The default location of the Template Database is:

<Install Directory>\Database\Database Template

If your template database is located in a different location, browse to the location of your template database under Preferences | Options.
