Open the FEM viewer, click Assembly and select Auto Create Transitions for Assembly.
You should see a similar image to the one below.
Important: The arrow direction does not define the direction of a thicker to thinner laminate.
The arrows point away from the "from component" and they point in the direction of the "to component". This defines the direction of a ply drop & a ply add. If a ply exists in the "from component" but does not exist in the "to component" the ply drops in the direction of the arrow. As such, it is recorded as a “drop”. if a ply is added across the boundary, it is recorded as an “add”. So the direction of the arrows are somewhat arbitrary. When transitions are automatically created, the arrows are oriented based on component numbering, small to large.
Tip: Typically, the arrows should indicate the direction the plies are lain on the tool surface, this makes the ply drop & ply add distinction more meaningful.
