About FEM Update

The FEM update feature allows you to export a new FEM containing the latest panel and beam dimensions and materials. The feature is related to, but separate from iterating with HyperFEA.

• Properties and elements will be output for all components that have results.
• Any elements that are not associated with component results are ignored.

• (Nastran only) A new directory is created to store the updated FEM.

  This enables users to archive and share the updated FEM safely by zipping up the new directory.

• (Nastran only) All dependent include files are copied to the new directory using the same folder structure.

  This keeps the updated FEM completely independent of the source FEM.

Nastran

The FEM update process for Nastran is different from the iteration FEM process. In FEM update the goal is to preserve the original structure of the source FEM as much as possible (in HyperFEA the goal is to rapidly generate a new FEM to get an updated load path).

• Property, material, and element entries are updated in-place. In other words, the original ordering of the bulk data entries is preserved.
• New property and material entries are appended to the end of the first file that references the new property ID or material ID.

Abaqus
