Beam Offsets

Beam offset vectors are defined by the distance from the centroid of the beam section to some reference point. If the beam neutral axis changes, a new offset distance is required. The new offset is computed automatically when the FEM is updated.

Important: Beam offsets are not imported. They are exported at the end of each analysis to a location specified on the Options tab.

Offsets are output with respect to the attached grid in one of three ways:

The top of the beam is in the direction of the HyperSizer z-axis (HyperSizer beam normal). See Beam Orientation.

Beam offset options are set on a component by component basis on the Options tab of the Sizing form.

Nastran beam offsets defined with spherical coordinate systems are not supported.
