Tooling Rules
The tooling rules are set for the assembly. Unique tooling rules are defined for each panel and beam concept. The form below displays the tooling rules for the I Bonded concept in the "Upper Wing Cover" assembly.
Tooling Constraints
- Height Sizing Variable Changes how the height variable is defined. This allows the user to define the height for stiffened panels in terms of total height, stiffener height, or web height.
- Height Specifies an assembly-wide height constraint: any value, equal to a value (=), or less than or equal to a value (<). Applies to rapid sizing and detailed sizing.
- Stiffener Spacing Specifies an assembly-wide spacing constraint: any value, equal to a value (=), or less than or equal to a value (<). Applies to rapid sizing and detailed sizing.
Cross-Sectional Linking
The tooling rules also includes options for material linking. For example, if the skin and stiffener material need to be the same, then materials can be linked together. If the skin and stiffener materials are linked, the skin material is automatically assigned to the stringer.
In a similar manner, stiffener thicknesses can be linked as well. In this case, the thickness of the web object is assigned to both the top and bottom flange objects.
- Link stiffener flange and web thickness For continuous materials, specifies that the thickness of each portion of the stiffener is equal.
- Link stiffener and skin materials The resultant material in the top facesheet and stiffener will be the same.
- Link stiffener flange, web and cap thicknesses to skin thickness (requires material linking) The resultant material thickness in the top facesheet, stiffener web and stiffener flanges will be the same.
