Modify FEA Loads

In HyperFEA > tools > options what is the purpose of “Modify FEA loads between iterations with external process” do?  What is the external process here? Does it use the gradient of weight w.r.t. to the iteration number as the basis for modifying the PLOADS?

I noticed a big difference in the component size from two runs one with- and another without- check mark on the above option?. With check mark on, Factored loads got applied. Without check mark, the Design-to-Loads Factored loads, appeared to the same as un-factored loads, which meant that 2 sigma and factored loads were not applied in HyperSizer.  Also, run with higher Design-to-factored loads resulted in smaller size of component; and run with smaller Design-to-factored loads resulted in much bigger size of component.  Any explanation for these?
