094 | Intracell Dimpling |
Intracell dimpling, or intracell buckling, is a failure specific to honeycomb sandwich concepts that is caused by local instability of the facesheets. If the face thickness of a honeycomb sandwich is reduced while cell size and material are held constant, a thickness will eventually be reached at which the facesheet will buckle between the cell walls.
