Title: Characteristic Distance Do (Tension and Compression)
Post by: Stressed on July 07, 2009, 08:05:54 AM
The value of characteristic distance (Do) for tension and compression is not the same value.   Can HyperSizer accommodate a both tension and compression values for Do.

Hypersizer Version 5.7.6 is programmed to include one value of Do, and is applicable for both tension and compression.

A work around is to determine the critical loading condition and modify Do as appropriate.

A future HyperSizer revision could include the capability of both tension and compression values of Do and may also include a value of  Do dependent on the percentage of 45 deg or 0 deg plies. These Do values would also be component based.
