Title: Optimizing laminates with linking groups
Post by: Tom Dragone on July 17, 2014, 02:21:40 PM
I don't believe that I specifically set up linking groups in my model, but somehow components have been grouped into groups with names like "Default Group 20000101".  How could this have happened?  Is it somehow related to the fact that this model was created in HS 6 and them imported into HS 7.0.35?

In any case, I would like to re-assign components to groups to reflect real manufacturing variables that I would like to link (like core thickness).  If I try to delete the current (incorrect) groups, it appears that the information for preferred concept, optimization bounds, and material choices are cleared and need to be reset.  Are component-specific buckling spans and options also reset in this process?  Is there a way to preserve this information while re-assigning components to new linking groups?

When you import v6 projects into v7, the v6 groups are imported as linking groups.

You can use "Design Templates" to save the concept selections, dimensions and material selections. Then after you delete the groups and recreate them, you can apply the template. See: http://hypersizer.com/help/#Templates/tp-about.php%3FTocPath%3DFeatures%7CTemplates%7C_____1

If you delete the groups, the component data such as buckling spans, active failure criteria, loads, etc. is not deleted.
