Title: MOI of Stiffener for simple supports
Post by: Ruben on November 22, 2019, 08:50:36 AM
Hi,

When using your Metal Grid Plugin the minimum MOI for the stiffener to provide simple supports to the adacent panels is determined using Nui is available as a failure mode. How is the minimum MOI determined if this plugin is not used? Should the plugin be installed by default and this failure method always enabled?

Regards,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,

HyperSizer does not natively compute a required MOI for simple support of grid-stiffened structure, which is why that criterion is available in the grid-stiffened plugin package. In general, we would recommend enabling this method to prevent unconservatism if you are concerned that the stiffeners would not otherwise size up sufficiently due to other criteria.

Thanks,
Stephen
