The Nx in the analysis detail report, the Nx load for the controlling location of the object (top, middle, bottom) is reported.

The Nx in the stresses tab is the average Nx, through the thickness of the object.

I hope this is helpful.

Hi,

I'm trying to understand the loads used to calculate the margins by Hypersizer, but I see some inconsistencies.
For instance, the Nx load reported in the Stresses Tab for the object "Open Span" is -230438.9, but if I generate an analysis details report for "Isotropic Strength, Yield, Von Mises-Hill Criterion" in "Open Span" location, the "Nx, object" load reported is -253891.3. Shouldn't they be the same?

Thanks!

Hi,

They stand for "tension" and "compression", respectively. Under some load processing methods, the element forces in a panel are aggregated under separate "passes" based on their sign. For example, when averaging forces for a statistical approach, the elements in compression are averaged and used as design-to loads in a separate pass from those in tension. This is to avoid averaging out tension and compression values which could result in unconservative results.

More information in how our FEA loads processing works is available in our FEA Loads Processing help topic:

https://hypersizer.com/help_7.3/#Loads/load-fea.php

Thanks,
Stephen

Miscellaneous Software Topics / Meaning of T- and C- in FEA loads tab?

Hi,

Whats the difference between the T- and C- values in the FEA loads tab?

Thanks!

I faced the same problem. If you add dummy (zero force) load card for thermal subcase hypersizer will assume mechanical case so you can work like mechanical case. Finally, you can size your model for limit  1*M+1*T, for ultimate 1.5*M+1.5*T

I noticed that I can't apply a limit and ultimate factor to thermal load sets. Why is this? For combined loads, according to the NASA Requirement I need to follow, for combined loads I apply a 1.0 limit factor to mech and thermal and a 1.4 ultimate factor to mech and thermal. How can I scale the thermal loads for limit and ultimate individually? When I do load combinations I could apply a scale factor but then my limit margins would have 40% high thermal load contribution.
I've also considered applying a 1.4 Thermal Hurt factor, but that would have the same affect of applying to both limit and ultimate MS calculations. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Matthew

How do I export updated FEM for ALL Assemblies that I have?
Right now, I have to go to each assembly, edit membership, export/import file filter, copy & paste appending the exported components into 1 file. This is a rather long process. Is there a better way of doing it?
Thanks
Joseph

yeah, so you must have created new components after importing the FEM. So the component IDs are different from the FEM property IDs and the reimport will import the property IDs.

If you (1) export updated FEM, that should include the new components as properties (2) point to updated FEM (3) reimport, you shouldn't lose any of your component-assembly definition.

One thing to add
When create assembly from unassigned component, you'll also need to click on "Text" or "List", then the unassigned component will show up.

When exporting that list, the export uses INCLUDE PROPERTIES, you may/maynot want to exclude element using this way. Instead, go to edit assembly membership by element, then you can copy and paste this to your EXCLUDE ELEMENTS files

I'm not sure if I did anything wrong with just click ReImport. But it Reimport and blew away all of my components that I created in my assemblies.
It shouldn't have done that according to here http://hypersizer.com/help_7.3/#FE-General/fem-reimport.php
