buckling span directions are error

FEM:  Create the model from extrude?  X-Y Plane as reference plane,create a sketch (half circle), Z axis as extrude axis, So the model is half circle shell. 

When the fem is imported the hypersizer, the buckling span is error, like the attached picture.

in this case, how to adjust the span direction to right ?


in Hypersizer, how to define x span direction and y Span direction? what is the principle?


hypersizer define x and y direction for a plate automatically. in fact, i need to add stiffener along to the y direction not x direction, this is  the stiffer should parallel the y axis which hypersizer define automatically.   so i need to change x and y axis, but i dont know how to do in the hypersizer??

You should set the material direction in your FEM. This direction becomes the x direction when it's imported into hypersizer.

Yes, the material directions should be set in the FEM prior to importing the model. The material directions are required to define the X direction of the panel. This is likely why the buckling spans appear incorrect because HyperSizer doesn't have a consistent X direction.

I recommend setting the X direction (material direction) in the longitudinal direction (global +Z). Then the Y span will be the circumferential direction. For cylindrical barrels we recommend setting the Y-span = 1/2 circumference to capture the lowest energy buckling mode shapes.
