Can HyperSizer support parallel computing?
« on: June 16, 2008, 02:38:31 PM »
Question submitted by user:

Dear Collier Research,

We found "Parallel Computing Setup" in the Option menu. Would you tell us if HyperSizer can support Parallel computing? What type of parallel computer can be used? SMP or DMP? How many CPUs can be used?

This capability is not functional anymore. We do not support it at this time.

Hi,

Is parallel computing in HS supported again?
As I am dealing with a pretty large FEA-model, calculation times are enormous.
Especially for the definition of laminate FEM zones I get calculation times of several days, although I reduced the number of combinations significantly.

Parallel computing was was written and worked for the Windows 2000 operating system.  When Windows XP came out, Microsoft changed up the security model for the operating system making the way we were parallel processing impossible.  We have never had the funding to go back and re-vamp it to work with the Windows XP and now Windows 7 security.  Hopefully in the near future, we are going to be updating the software to take advantage of multiple cores on a single computer.
