Element Ply Strains in Stress Report
« on: August 04, 2008, 12:55:54 PM »
The “Element Margins-of-Safety for Controlling Composite Ply” table shows local ply strains for a given element/ply/load case. These strains do not match values given in a table for the same element/ply/load case in the “Calculations for Failure Analysis” chapter in the report. Is there a reason these should be different?

The stresses and strains listed in the "Calculations for Failure Analysis" section should correspond to the lowest composite failure margin of safety encountered for a particular run.

If they don't match what is shown in the element margin of safety table, it is possible that it is not picking off the lowest margin when showing the sample calculations.  I'd have to look at the specific example to know for sure.
