FEMgen - Is this what it is supposed to do?

I have a FEM that looks like this in the FEM viewer (see image 'Panels').

When I use FEMgen on these three panels, the spacing, geometry and thicknesses of the reinforcements is preserved (see image 'FEMgenClose').

The geometry and relative orientation of the panels is not preserved however (see image 'FEMgenFar').

Is this how it is supposed to work, or have I neglected to set a toggle somewhere?
