Is it possible in HyperSizer to analyze/optimize open lattice structures (i.e. isogrid structures WITHOUT the skin on either side)?  If I set the skin thickness to something very small and ignore the skin failure modes, I'm guessing that the load in the webs will be calculated correctly and the strength failure modes will be accurate.  But what about the buckling modes?  Will the flange-type local buckling and crippling formulae implemented in HS reduce to a more typical Euler column buckling if the skin thickness/stiffness is set very low?  Will the global panel buckling modes be correct?

We have performed sizing of lattice structures in HyperSizer. User-defined analysis plugins were required to capture the column buckling of the lattice ribs. Here is a paper describing the process and the results.
