Beam Section Must have width 0 error
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:33:01 PM »
Actual line # and Error number changes.  However, every error has "System. InvalidOperationException: Beam Section must have width 0"
This occurs when I updates model in hypersizer.
Due to poor property setup during FEM modeling, I changed a lot of components using Graphics. so I don't want to loose whole group and component setting.
If anyone knows solution to this error, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ryan

This is a bug that was found in the early versions of 6.2. This should be corrected in laters version. What version are you running?

The bug is triggered by the 'web' beam concept.

This was 6.2. something.  I downgraded to 6.1.  One more Question.

When we sizing spar, let's say it is I-beam shape, and spar web is 2-d shell element, and spar cap is 1-d beam element.  In concept, should I use Cap beam or Web-beam?
What is difference between Cap-beam and Web-beam?  Normal direction?  Then how would I set normal direction in rod-elements? Thanks

For this application I don't think there will be any difference between Cap- and Web- beam.

No normal directions are required for CROD elements since the PROD entry only takes area and torsional stiffness.
