Hypersizer Edge Load Feature (Sum forces and moments)
« on: July 30, 2009, 08:17:26 AM »
The Hypersizer edge load feature is useful in the we can sum the forces in the x, y and z direction at an interface the user specifies.

For a  wing analysis, one of the objectives is to sum the loads (forces and moments) at a wing spar or skin station to assist with the detailed analysis process, and also compare internal loads in the smeared FEM with the detailed FEM. One of the shortcomings of the current process is that we can not sum all of the loads (Forces only).

In a future upgrade could we pick a cross section to sum loads (Elements) and then sum the load at a specific node reference location. For the main spar we would want to sum Fx (local axial load), Fxy (Shear load) and My (Local bending moment). The user would have to specify a coordinate system. There could be an option to only show forces or also include moments.

In the current revision of HyperSizer (V5.7.x) we burden the user with creating an edge at the load summary location. Is this really necessary?. If loads are required at several sections, the user is burdened with creating assemblies with edges at the stations required for the loads.
