Orthotropic materials Joints & Holes Tab
« on: March 03, 2010, 06:53:31 AM »
For bonded joints, what is the characteristic distance? Is it thickness of glue line? Why is this in the orthotropic material definition?

Gary,

The charictoristic distance defines the distance from the free edge, at which HyperSizer evaluates the interlaminar shear and peel stresses to generate margins of safety for our bonded joint methods.

This may be best understood by reviewing our bonded joint methodology.
