Stress Report - Failure Theory Analysis

(1/2) > >>

Rocketman007:
The stress report function in HyperSizer does not include detailed analysis for all of the failure theories (V5.6.38). Tsai Wu is documented. For example if we choose the laminate open hole analysis, the stress report simply shows the Margin of Safety. The stress report should show the %0 %45 and %90 deg plies in the four primary directions -45, 0, 45 and 90 deg.

The report should also show the maximum applied strain, allowable strain, controlling load conditions and Margin of Safety for the four primary directions.

Phil:
Further stress report documentation for other ply based composite failure theories (such as Tsai-Hill, Max Stress, Max Strain, etc) as well as laminate based failure is in the works for our next update (5.6.39).

I'll post back here when this update is available.

Rocketman007:
Crippling analysis based on Laminate allowables is available in a preliminary version in V5.6.39. The user should click the crippling analysis in the failure TAB and choose a laminate based failure theory. For example the user could choose open hole compression.

If multiple failure theories are chosen with the crippling analysis turned on the user default is to use the failure condition with the lowest allowable Fcu (F11c).

In Hypersizer V5.7.x Collier intends to add a user option with the crippling tab to define the failure methodology.

WH:
Phil,
can the report be in xls format so that one can convert to metric easily

Phil:
The report will be in Microsoft Word format and the units will be in the same units as your project.
