Creating Stringer Segments - Automatic

Stringer segments can be automatically created for an assembly. Note that the initial assembly only needs the relevant skin components defined.

How create stringer segments - automatic

  1. Open the FEM viewer and select the desired assembly. See Creating Assemblies.

Tip: When creating an assembly that will be used for auto stringer segment creation, you only need to select the relevant skin components/elements. The stringer elements will be added to the assembly during stringer segment creation.

  2. Click Assembly and select Auto Create Stringer Segments.

  3. Fill out the modeling technique dialog.
    1. Select "Stiffened Panel Type" - uniaxial or corrugated.
    2. Select the "Starting Component ID". This is the first component ID.
    3. Select the "Inter-Component Offset". This is the spread between each sequential component ID.
    4. Select the modeling technique (2 or 3).
    5. Click OK.

  4. After the creation process is done, you should see a similar image to the one below. The squares represent the elements that are members of a stringer segment.

Tip: If you don't see any squares appear over the skin elements, select Refresh (F4).

  5. Verify the individual stringer segments by hovering the mouse over stringer segments in the legend. Note that the stringer number is based on the selections from Step 3.
  6. (Optional) Toggle back and forth between "Color by Component" and "Component by FEM Property".

Here you can visualize the relationship between HyperSizer components and FEM properties.
