An enterprise tool for entire life cycle
A large user community within a company
Primarily developed for stress analysts, HyperSizer is now successfully being used by designers because of its user friendliness, extensive documentation, and integrated database. Its suitability for designers is also based on the optional mode of entering design-to loads directly without the need of FEA.
Throughout the stages of design maturity
In addition to an enterprise tool user base of analysts and designers, its use begins at the start of a project and continues throughout design maturity all the way to test data correlation, part certification, and in-field product support. Progressive Design & Analysis »
Real-time and archival database storage
HyperSizer is a software system for management of data associated with the structural analysis and test data of a major aircraft program. Multiple databases can be setup, with each database able to contain hundreds of variations of an airframe configuration (i.e. different FEMs), material properties, panel and beam concepts, dimensions, and loads. This approach provides apples-to-apples weight prediction comparisons, and a secure store of all margins-of-safety for every configuration. The database also provides an organized and efficient means to capture essential data related to a project with a guaranteed ability to immediately locate and retrieve historical data. Stress reports can be generated at the click of a button at any time documenting current status of a project, indicating critical margins, critical load cases, and critical structural parts.
From a software perspective, the interactive GUI is native for Windows OS and includes powerful DirectX graphics of the FEM and a tabbed data entry look and feel. Stress reports are generated in both HTML and Microsoft Word formats. A programmable object model allows the software to be fully customizable using Visual Basic (VB), Excel spreadsheets, or JAVA.
Control of FEA solutions, and modification and final documentation of the FEM
An integral part of a stress analyst’s job function is to interpret load paths computed with the FEA and to calculate resulting strength margins of the structural components. As such, the loads FEM must be modified and re-executed during this process of design maturation and maintained on a long term basis. The latest version of HyperSizer addresses these needs in two ways.
A new capability called HyperFEA can automatically control the iterative convergence between HyperSizer stress analysis and sizing and NASTRAN FEA solutions. HyperFEA »
Secondly, new capability that provides interactive modification of a FEM’s element property assignments within the HyperSizer graphics are now possible. This reduces the labor effort and time between model updates (such as redefining layup dropoff’s) and possibly reduces the number of licenses needed for post processors such as PATRAN.
